FREE EYE CAMP CAMEROON AFRICA JAN 2011

 

POB Cameroon

A five member team comprising of four doctors and a paramedic, left from Islamabad to Cameroon on January 07, 2011. The team is headed by Dr Intzar Hussain Butt chairman POB (Prevention of Blindness) Trust.

The Team visited Cameroon to participate in a 6 days free eye camp started from 8th to 13th January’2011.The other doctors include Dr. Imran Azam Butt, Dr. Kanwar Usman Saeed and Dr. Sajid. This camp is arranged there in coordination with FIMA (Federation of International Medical Association) and is a part of our global campaign for the prevention of blindness in poor countries. Cameroon is a Central African nation on the Gulf of Guinea, bordered by Nigeria, Chad, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon. French and English are the official languages, but there are also 24 major African language groups in the country.

51 per cent of the population is living in poverty. The poorest areas are found in the far north, north-west, north-east, west and centre. Poverty in these provinces has worsened in the past 10 years, despite the decline overall. Women and children are particularly hard-hit: 52 per cent of the people in poor households are women, and half of the members of poor households are under 15 years of age.

FREE EYE CAMP NIGERIA KANO MAR 2011

 

 

A five member team comprising of four doctors and a paramedic, left from Islamabad to Nigeria on February 21, 2011. The team is headed by Dr Azhar Qazi Member POB (Prevention of Blindness) Trust.

They participated in a 5 days free eye camp started from 1st March to 5th March 2011. The other doctors include Dr. Javaid Bashir, Dr. Imtiaz and Dr. Sattar. This camp is being arranged in coordination with FIMA (Federation of International Medical Association). OPD’s and IOL implantation surgeries are 3000 and 400 respectively.

Kano is a city in Nigeria and the capital of Kano State in Northern Nigeria. Its metropolitan population is the second largest in Nigeria with a population of 2,163,225 at the 2006 Nigerian census.

Kano is largely Muslim.

FREE EYE CAMP NIGERIA KADUNA FEB 2011

 

 

A five member team comprising of four doctors and a paramedic, left from Islamabad to Cameroon on February 21, 2011. The team is headed by Dr Azhar Qazi Member POB (Prevention of Blindness) Trust.

This 4 days free eye camp started from 24th February to 28th February 2011. The other doctors include Dr. Javaid Bashir, Dr. Imtiaz and Dr. Sattar. This camp is being arranged in coordination with FIMA (Federation of International Medical Association). OPD’s and IOL implantation surgeries are 5000 and 680 respectively.

Kaduna is the state capital of Kaduna State in north-central Nigeria. The city, located on the Kaduna River. Kaduna State occupies part of the Central position of the Northern part of Nigeria (with Kaduna as its capital) and shares common borders with Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, Kano, Bauchi and Plateau States.

LANGUAGE Kaduna State is mostly populated by Hausa, Gwari Katab and Bajjuu ethnic communities, with others up to 36 indigenous ethnic groups found in different parts of the State.

FREE EYE CAMP KATSINA, NIGERIA JULY 2011

 

 

A three doctors and a paramedic team left from Islamabad to Nigeria on July 22, 2011. The team is headed by Dr Lal Muhammad Member POB (Prevention of Blindness) Trust.

They participated in a 5 days free eye camp started from25th July to 29th July 2011. The other doctors include Dr. Javaid Bashir, Dr. Abid Butt and Dr. Lal Muhammad. This camp is being arranged in coordination with FIMA (Federation of International Medical Association). OPD’s and IOL implantation surgeries are 5025 and 470 respectively.

Katsina State is a state in northern Nigeria. Its capital is Katsina, a member of the People's Democratic Party. In 1987, Katsina State was formed from part of Kaduna State. The state is mostly Muslim.

The State is bounded in the East by Kano State, in the West by Sokoto State, in the South by Kaduna State and in the North by the Niger Republic.
