FREE EYE CAMP BAMAKO, MALI JULY 2011

 

Another team of four doctors and a paramedic team left from Islamabad to Nigeria on July 14, 2011. The team is headed by Dr Muhammad Azhar Qazi POB (Prevention of Blindness) Trust.

They participated in a three camps first camp is in Bamako, Mali. this 6 days free eye camp started from14th July to 20th July 2011. The other doctors include Dr. Azhar Qazi, Dr. Najeeb shah, Dr. Ghulam Hussain Asif and Dr. Riaz Ahmed. These camps arranged in coordination with FIMA (Federation of International Medical Association).

OPD’s and IOL implantation surgeries are 5570 and 263 respectively.

The name Bamako comes from the Bambara word meaning "crocodile river".
Bamako is the nation's administrative center. The city proper is cercle by its own right. Bamako's river port is located in nearby Koulikoro along with a major regional trade and conference center. Bamako is the seventh largest West African urban center after Lagos, Abidjan, Kano, Ibadan, Dakar and Accra. Local manufactures include textiles, processed meat, and metal goods. There is commercial fishing on the Niger River.
